Package: kernel-image-686 Provides: kernel-image Priority: optional Version: 2.6.35.14-1 Source: linux Architecture: __ARCH__ Maintainer: Paul A. Whittaker Section: System/Kernel Destination: root Description: A generic 2.6.35 DIET-PC kernel for multiprocessor PCs This is pretty much the same as the 586 kernel, except that it supports multiprocessor systems and up to 64 GB RAM (PAE), and requires a slightly less ancient CPU (Pentium II or better). It also supports common SCSI RAID and FibreChannel adapters and iSCSI, which makes it more suitable for use as a NAS or hypervisor than the 586 kernel. . The kernel supports PCI, PCIe and AGP busses (but not ISA or EISA). There is UDMA support for common SATA and IDE chipsets, and generic PATA/SATA support (using the new ATA layer drivers) for everything else. Compiled-in support for Ext2/3/4, ISO9660, JFFS2, SquashFS 4 and Unionfs filesystems. . Ought to support booting from ATA hard disk (and SCSI disk in some cases), CD/DVD-ROM, SD/MMC, NOR and NAND flash, and USB disks, on most x86-based systems. Doesn't support booting over NFS.
